Portfolio Roadmap Module - List page

The Portfolio List page works like a spreadsheet and offers integrated visual features. It can be used for both planning and providing updates to different audiences.

The Portfolio List page enables you to choose which fields to see, add items directly in the hierarchy, drag and drop columns to re-order, use multi-sorting, and see real-time updates when fields are mapped to Jira or other agile tools.

This article covers

  1. Flat and Multilevel search
  2. Choose fields to display
  3. Add Items Directly
  4. Adjust Columns
  5. Multi-sort
  6. Pin Columns
  7. See Real-time updates
  8. Use other functionalities

Flat and Multilevel search

On the Portfolio List view, you can perform flat or multilevel searches. When performing a flat search (searching by a single portfolio level), the results are presented ordered by rank, with a maximum of 500 items being retrieved and shown.

If you need to see the complete list of portfolio items, you can use the multilevel search to search for multiple Portfolio Item types (Epic, Initiative,  Bet), which shows all results in a flat list without any hierarchy.

For more information on searching and filtering, please refer to the Advanced Search, Quick Filter, Global Search and Page/Local Search article.

Flat vs Multilevel search

  Flat search Multilevel search
Pagination No Yes
Hierarchy Yes No
Search multiple portfolio levels No Yes
Grouping Yes Yes
Save as view Yes No
Show fields Yes Yes
Export Yes Yes
Import Yes Yes
Bulk update Yes Yes

You can select what levels to search (Idea, Initiative, Bet), group in multiple categories and up to 3 tiers, and expand/collapse the groups, allowing you to view portfolio items in multiple lenses, according to your needs.

When exporting, only the portfolio items on the current page will be exported. For more information, please refer to the How To Export & Download Ideas, Assignments/ Staffing, and Users article.

Tip: you can use multilevel search to search for a single level, and get the benefits of pagination. Just select Multiple Levels and search by a single level - Idea, Initiative or Bet.

Grouping

You can group the displayed portfolio items in multiple categories and up to 3 tiers (you can group by Goals, Product Line, Theme, Category, etc) and expand/collapse the groups.

Pin columns

Pinning columns is similar to freezing columns in a spreadsheet. The pinned columns will not move when you scroll the table to the right (or left if you pin to the right).

You may drag the column header to either side of the pin. Select a column to pin and drag other columns to the left / right of it to be pinned.

Other functionalities

Rank (Priority)

By default, Portfolio Items are listed in the order of priority that is carried throughout the Dragonboat app (global rank). Every new Portfolio Item will go to the top of the list. You may then drag it to the appropriate rank position using either the List page or the Board page.

View

You may customize the columns (use the Show Field option), pin the key fields, adjust the order of them, sort, filter, and group to create a View.

You may also create various Views for quick access and/or share with others.

You may modify the Views, but the layout will not be saved unless you click Save as My View. As you navigate to other pages and return back to the List page, the last active View applied will load.
